The Development of New-Generation Axles

„The development of the 3rd generation of RÁBA portal axle range and the customer services marketing for the safe-keeping and strengthening of the market position of axles”

With the support of the European Union and co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund, Rába - in consistence with its strategy - has been able to expand its product portfolio on the bus market with new, self-developed products as a result of the GOP-1.3.1-08/2-2009-0011 project.

Besides the market survey of the products, the project also included the whole development process; the development, prototyping, testing and construction of the driven and non-driven axles. Furthermore, education material for service technology and repair of axles was elaborated for the axles completed in the beginning of 2011.
The recently developed new generation of disc-brake bus axles is designed for the low-floor market segment that is now increasingly coming to the front.

The Rába axles have been present on the bus market for nearly 40 years. With its products the company is capable to serve the market entirely, ranging from midi-buses to articulated city buses. Similarly to Western European tendencies, on the traditional markets of Rába - in its close region, in Eastern Europe and the CIS countries, the proportion of low-floor vehicles in the newly marketed buses is increasing. The axles of the low-floor vehicles need to comply with the strict requirements regarding floor-height, accessible passenger space and loading capacity.
